Well, the first quarter ran into the second quarter a little, since I did not post until late.
The
Ashland/Shakespeare trip for the Mothers birthdays went well. Jeremy ended up not being able to go, so our hairdresser and friend Teresa went with us. It was very cold in the town--which we tried to prepare for, but when it is a nice 75+ in
Redding and 40-45 degrees in
Ashland, preparation is difficult. We made it into town with just enough time to grab a bite and get to the theatre. The play was GREAT. We saw a VERY MODERN version of a Mid Summer Nights Dream. The fairies were not wood fairies but homosexual fairies and by the end of the play the two couple (four main characters) were in nighties and boxers (basically they were barely covered by thin material). This was not what I was expecting but it was absolutely wonderful because I have seen the
original version so many times that this was a fresh new version. After the play we checked into our hotel to find that 2 tour buses of high school kids were also staying the same hotel..
ichy (hello...my mom works in a high school, my mother in law has a high school student at home still and I work/volunteer at the high school so we weren't to happy to have that many at the hotel with us.
Tita was the only one who did not mind.) We had a nice mini-suite with a large bath, two queen beds, a roll away, a dining room table and a kitchenette. I am sure for
Ashland it was considered a full suite, but for this girl it was only a mini-suite in my book. Once into the room and settled, we (but my mom) walked across the street to Safeway for alcohol and a small snack. I got my snack but found out that Oregon has state run liquor stores meaning alcohol can not be purchased in grocery stores.
Fooey on that. We decided to just get dinner...
restaurants have bars!! I stayed sober since my vertigo was acting up. Dinner was at a nice steak/pasta place. We ate our fill of everything and still had leftovers. After a short walk about the downtown area we
stopped in at Munchies for dessert and then back to the hotel to warm up and put on
jammies.
The next day we headed up to
Medford to make the official trip to Harry and David's--which is a must have store to stop at. Then we went across the street to Fred Meyer for a little more shopping. What a sale! Holy cow! So far...so good. A small suggestion from MIL Pam lead us out to Jacksonville for lunch and more shopping. It was not as cold in J-ville, but we experienced the most
unusual weather, partly cloudy skies, 50+ degrees and immediate breaks of snow or full sun...weird. I tried looking for information for Blue Fox Farm which is owned and operated by a good friend's brother and family, but no go. What a beautiful little town. I will add pictures once I download them from the camera. It is so easy to take the pictures but remembering to download and then upload is a pain.
To make sure we made it to
McCloud in time for dinner we left J-ville by 2:45-3 pm. We filled up and headed south! Dinner was at The River Inn Grill and Bar which is owned and operated by
Jer's uncle Scott and fiancee Aubry. It was a wonderful couple hours and then a final 45-60 minute drive down "the hill". I had
originally picked everyone up before heading out of town, but with dad and Wayne (T's husband) meeting us in
McCloud, I only brought MIL Pam home. Which was good because I was tired and wanted to get home and go to bed. What a wonderful, tiring and cold two days.
RENOOOOJeremy and I had a hotel voucher for two nights in Reno which we used as our 2
nd anniversary get-away. We left on Monday and came home on Wednesday. It was a fairly uneventful trip---YEA--which was what the doctor called for. Neither of us had much of an
appetite so sharing meals not only saved us money but was the best way to eat. Tuesday evening we had dinner with
Jer's friend Rose and then went to Rum
Bullion's for a little late night fun. We did a little gambling and left it all there...however
Jer and I found that if you sit at a penny machine and play SLOWLY the cocktail waitress will just keep bringing drinks...yea. That was fun...nothing better in Reno than free alcohol.
LIFE SINCE RENO is a whole other story which will come later...
